On October 1, 2008, Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko, akciová spoločnosť, and Generali Poisťovňa, a. s., merged due to fact that since January 2008 both companies are a part of a strong international group Generali PPF Holding operating in the insurance sector in 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Based on best experience of both insurers, a new company called Generali Slovensko poisťovňa, a. s., one of the three strongest insurers on the Slovak market, was created.

The estimated premiums written of Generali Slovensko for the 2008 is SKK 6.6 billion with an 11% market share. The cumulative reserves represent SKK 11.2 billion and the registered capital is SKK 750 million. The number of the clients of this insurer is over 600,000.

The name of the company was created by a merger of previous official names of both companies. The strategy of the insurer is a strong orientation on a local market, i.e. life needs of Slovak clients. New conception of the company and of the brand is based on practical and modern approach and high quality utilizing a strong international background and know-how gained from previous experience on the Slovak market which is reflected also by total commerce-marketing strategy and a local claim.
